19-year-old punishes her 20-year-old roommate for taking her food among other inconsiderate behavior by changing the WiFi password when she has 8 people over for "movie night": 'It's like 20 characters long, so she'll never guess it in a million years'

When fridge notes and empty promises highlighted continued bad behavior from her roommate, this young woman hit "reset" on the WiFi password and the relationship.

The WiFi password, the ultimate bargaining chip of any living situation, locking someone out of the WiFi is the modern equivalent of basically locking someone out of the house. With how dependent we are on the internet in our modern lives, it stands to reason that you'd almost rather be locked out of the house physically than still have WiFi access, than vice versa.

One thing is for certain, we've certainly, as a society, lost our ability to have tough conversations. Where there still would have probably been passive-aggressive notes left out, but eventually you'd be forced to sit down and talk things through to resolve any lingering problems in the house.

Now, everything is handled through group text messages sent behind closed doors, while disgruntled ships in the night pass passive-aggressively in the hallway only when unavoidably necessary. I definitely can say that I've had plenty of roommate situations where this has been the case, especially in my younger years, when we were all just trying to figure things out.

Taking other people's things, especially without asking, is an absolute no-go in any situation, but it's surprising how many people blatantly ignore that fact in young adult living situations.

When she found this happening, this young 19-year-old woman did things the classic way, originally, posting notes on the fridge to let her roommate and her constantly revolving door of friends know that it wasn't cool that they were eating her food and drinking her beverages. But when she was repeatedly ignored or empty promises weren't upheld, she resorted to other methods.
